Exactly how I feel

People use the phrase "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" mostly in a negative way. I've pondered that and I chose to look at it differently. If we lead by example and teach our children well that phrase is a positive, right?

He will make many choices in life that are bad decisions. Thats just part of growing up. I made them - you made them - everyone made. But as he gets older (in his 20's) and starts to see the reasoning behind some of the things we've taught him at that point he'll probably be the apple that's fairly close to the tree. As long as I've led a decent, honorable life I'll be happy the apple is where it is. I've made some horrible mistakes in my life that I deeply regret. He'll make some too. But in the end I think he'll be just fine because he has a father and mother (oh how it pains me to say that LOL) who both care about him and are doing their level best to raise a good person. There are so many people out there who aren't qualified to have pets let alone kids and what they're doing is hurting the child and leaving what will be a societal mess that you and I have to fix
