Just in a little footnote about the Fed permanent account. They bought $10.1 billion in Treasury Index Protection securities (TIPS) this year, a new trend, and I'd say starts the process of distorting TIPs spreads as an indicator.


Yes, bills are growing at about a 2% annual rate of change, bonds at about 4%... and TIPS/TIIS at just over 50%, the second fastest growth rate since separate reporting started in 2000.
