Kerry is taken very-very seriously by the rightwing. They know that Kerry alone has the courage to take on Big Oil and some of the other huge corrupt special interests which fund the far right especially in Texas where most of the corruption seems to originate from, even during the 80's when the S+L debacle was centered there. In the 80's Kery spearheaded the investigations in congress which exposed Iran-Contra, the BCCI Bank and plenty of very shady far rightwing CIA, drug-running, gun-running and terrorist activities. Kerry isn not afraid of any of them and they know it. As president he would be every bit as touch as he was in the 80's, fighting for the people, the Constitution, the environment and the laws of this land. Kerry scares the crap out of the rightwing, which is why they sent to such great lengths to smear him and cheat him, all supported by dishonest un-American A-holes like you.
