"the Shah of Iran was overthrown during Jimmy Carters' tenure."

Yes, I know. (And the Dictator was sick and dying from cancer at the time, very late in his period of rule.)

What's your point?

(And, what does that have to do with when the US first put the Shah's DAD on the Peacock Throne after WW II, or when we later over-threw the Democratic government that had been elected to replace the first Shah, and forced his SON back onto the throne, and the Parlement out into the streets?)

Jimmy Carter canceled a long tem ongoing transfer payment to a few Ahatollah's who were being paid $1M each to stay out of Iran. Khomeni and at least one or two others were in Paris when Carter motivated them to return to Iran and attack the government there.
