Published: 28/12/2006 12:00 AM (UAE) 1,294 people found eligible for citizenship By Nissar Hoath Staff Reporter gulfnews.com Abu Dhabi: The Interior Ministry has issued a preliminary list of people without the documents needed to prove their identity who are eligible for UAE citizenship. Some 1,294 people have been identified as genuine cases eligible for naturalisation under the directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to solve problem of people living in the country without legal documents. Only those who have lived permanently in the UAE prior to the formation of the Federation in 1971 will qualify for naturalisation. The conditions also require that they have no criminal records.
