During those years my dad and I put some money together and bought a jumbo CD, paid 18%. The S&L called me telling me I should cash in part of that CD and pay off my $20k home loan that was at 6.75%. I bet they had bridges for sale too.

I recall 17%.

We were living in Fairfax, Va then and husband stationed at Pentagon. Lovely gas lines... :(
