That's how they make their money, evergreen ie eternal interest. Back 15 years ago I tried to get a credit card and was turned down. Why? I paid cash for my home, cars and boat. Had a $150k line of credit at one bank and $50k line of credit at FS. Neither were in the reporting chain or so I was told. Then my wife who was unemployed but going to college got a pre approved card from the same people. It was GM and has cost them 3 vehicle sales.
