Our institution has dispensers with an anti-bacterial foam hand cleanser all over the place. Best part is this stuff doesn't dry your skin out - big problem in this climate.

If 28,000 people die each year from a dirty hands working with inserting central line catheters, that would be about 2,333 people a month who die.

Soldiers killed in Iraq so far is about 67 people per each of the 45 months of the war.

Our medical teams in Iraq, Germany and the Military hospitals in the US must be doing some amazing work by comparison........

increased vigilance on hand hygiene would cut down on the incidence of catheter infections.

Hospital infections are a huge problem, that's true... but no one these days puts in a central line without having gloves on.
