Benwood; I do think it would have mattered. We are all guilty of not standing up to Bush. In the words of TR;

To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is mortally treasonable to the American public.

"You really think it would have mattered? I don't"

I agree with that but anybody with real integrity who had genuine misgivings about this war, who had little to lose and who had real concerns had an absolute duty to stand up and speak out loudly against it. Ford clearly does not belong in that category!
