Mark Warner became Governor of Virginia however Mark Warner is not a Virginian he is from Indiana.

Warner gathers mixed reviews from Virginians---he ran against Senator John Warner after he, Mark Warner, was Governor and lost his bid against John Warner. Virginians went for experience on the job rather than choose a newcomer that many did not think did a good job as Governor.

Elinor Clift calls Mark Warner a son of the South. What Elinor fails to realize is that to be a son or daughter of the South you must have been born there.

Mark Warner was elected Governor because of the business interests in the Northern Virginia sector of Virginia. This is the same area that carried the state for James Webb---former conservative Republican who ran as a Democrat.

What Warner brings is a dual connection---------born in Indiana in the heartland of America, high school in Maryland and using his name "Warner" to run in Virginia-----where Senator John Warner was already well known.

Having served as Governor of Virginia Mark Warner now has his Virginia credentials. That makes him a reasonable running mate for Obama--------whichever way the alignment should fall.

Obama with his Hawaii and Illinois connections. Mark Warner with his Indiana and Virginia connections.

Just as would be the case with Edwards the candidates cover geographically everything from East to West of the USA.
