Maybe they do that when Saddam swings.

Something tells me no.

It's an interesting thing out here in the ME how they give holidays when a regional leader dies. We got 3 days off when the father of the leader of Dubai passed away. We got three days when the King of Jordan passed away a few years ago. We got 12 (!!) days then the longtime head of the UAE, Sheik Zayed, passed away two years ago. We got zero for Yassir Arafat (go figure). All that is pretty normal, but when King Fahd (or was it Saud?) of Saudi Arabia died a few years ago we got zero days off. The rumored reason I heard was because when the longtime ruler of the UAE Sheik Zayed died the Saudis didn't give their country any national holidays, so we didn't give it for the Saudi king. They dissed the UAE leader so the UAE paid them back.

But a national day or mourning for President Ford. Is that normal? Did that happen for Reagan as well - I can't really recall, I was overseas at the time.
