Happy new year to you, Briskit.

If there was a Jesus of biblical proportion, his life and deeds would have been noted by scholars and thinkers of the time and place. The silence is loud and clear on this matter.

Christianity was simply a Jewish sect that borrowed from several sources such as Mithraism...

Context is everything.... and of course the Jewish hierarchy at the time certainly thought there was some novel teaching going on!!!

After centuries of passions & war a new teaching emerges with "Hillel the Elder" living about the same time as the purported Jesus during the reign of Herod .... known for his gentleness and patience and emphasis on the Golden Rule. There were the beginnings of many who embraced the way of the pacifism that was a schism within the jewish tribes who many called for Holy Jhiad against the Romans .
(we being the modern day counterpart )
en.wikipedia.org

(There were literally 100's who were called Jesus, btw , that the Romans executed/crucified one was leading a Pacifist movement to the north in Galilea)

two of Hillel's most famous concise quotes were :

If I am not for myself, then who will be for me? And when I am for myself, what am I? And if not now, when?
(Pirkei Avot 1:14)

That which is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow. That is the whole Torah; the rest is the explanation; go and learn.(Babylonian Talmud, tractate Shabbat 31a. See the ethic of reciprocity or "The Golden rule")

* also believed to be the true inventor of the sandwich centuries before the Earl of Sandwich which must certainly demonstrate by its popularity today , that he was "God Inspired".
Or maybe he learned this all from his mother ....
