CRB is purchasing American Community Papers for $165 million. The company last changed hands in December 2004 when it was purchased for $85 million in a leverage buyout. LBO for American Community (USA) Dec 2004 Private equity firms Spire Capital Partners and Wachovia Capital Partners backed a US$85m leveraged buyout of American Community Newspapers. The deal was led by CEO Gene Carr and senior managers. The company publishes 68 weekly and two daily community newspapers, with flagships the daily Stillwater (Minn.) Gazette and the Sun weeklies in Minneapolis/St. Paul and Kansas City. The buyout vehicle is called ACN Holding LLC. American Community Newspapers was sold by BMO Nesbitt Burns.
