Muslim holidays begin at different times in different places.

Interesting aspect u mentioned. Sunnis rely on sighting of the moon every single year to decide when Ramadan starts/stops, when Eid begins etc. - Allah helps them if its a cloudy night!

Shias chart it in advance and can tell you when Eid is 50 years from now, and when Ramadan starts and ends 50 years from now.
