I've looked into IB. My account with Ameritrade is an IRA, and I'm reluctant to go through the drama of moving it across to IB. I've already been through that once or twice. On second thoughts, I've been assuming that I'd have to transfer it lock, stock and barrel (which could mean being unable to trade for a variable length of time), but maybe I could just transfer some funds to IB and set up a second IRA.

(The fact that I live in NZ adds to the potential complications.)
