Big Oil makes much more than 10%. One of their big fat lies. Their profits have more than doubled since Bush took over. There are all kinds of ways their accountants can make that profit margin come out to any number they want. I'm surprised you're so naive you would buy that BS.

How could Exxon for instance, which controls huge oil reserves and owns the process from ground to pump, only make 10% profit if gasoline prices double? The reason they put out such lies is to avoid windfall profits taxes. If the public knew how much they were fleecing us, we'd demand refunds and punishment, but if people like you believe their bogus numbers (spread by various PR pimps of the oil biz) public pressure will be less and we'll be cowed into believing everything they say.

Also, the oil industry lies about how much they are investing back, they lie about wanting more refineries (which they don't) and they lie big-time about the environmental impact of their exploration. Bottomline, any wilderness area opened up to gas or oil drilling is essentially ruined, especially in the arctic. Then add in our wars for oil in Iraq and elsewhere. So what's the real price of their gasoline? HUGE.

One thing is for sure, Bush-Cheney will never lift a finger against the oil profiteers, nor would the Delay congress. But things are about the change. The real information is about to start coming out. And I'll bet you the truth is just the opposite of what the oil companies have been claiming.
