Obviously Vietnam, Domino or not, was a war started on pretext as thin as the uniforms on the Polish soldiers at the German border in 1939. However the pretext to start the war that went into Afghanistan and Iraq was to reduce the base of guerilla warfare that had landed on the North American doorstep with 911. People have since argued that Iraq as a major force threatening mid east domination was not such a harbour of the so-called terrorism, but an entirely different issue. The Issue was whether or not Iraq had the capability or would have developed the capability of nuclear missile delivery. They at one time had a reactor and parts for bombs. For ten years they had played cat and mouse with UN inspectors. Could they have made deals to funnel all their equipment across the border to Syria in anticipation of an invasion or even during the invasion? After all they had the Kuwait experience as a model, and ten years to think about it. Undoubtedly their military advisers could have warned of the possibility of being overrun by the superior US equipment and intelligence gathering. That they did not find overwhelming evidence of a network of factories, or even enough equipment to outfit a good army for a prolonged resistance is hardly surprising, if the enemy had any brains at all. What is facing the US now, is what happens if they pull out of an unstable Afghanistan and Iraq now? I fear that the fledgling terrorized and disorganized administrations are hardly capable of withstanding a prolonged guerilla war. Their army and police force, their network of operatives, is just not up to it. The warlords would be easily overcome by a disciplined insurgent force that was atomic and willing to sacrifice. Arms would flow from Syria and Iran to different factions. It might be a five year debacle but the worst most virulent forces would eventually triumph. It would be perhaps another five years before that group would have in hand some expansionist plans complete with infiltration and fifth column instigated rebellion by allies in Algeria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Arabia, Indonesia, Egypt, Chechnya, Albania, Kosovo, Turkey, Pakistan and India. It is probable too that perhaps 15% of Hispanics and 30% of blacks in the US could participate in orchestrated civic disruptions that are all to easy to arrange with even one or two cases of blatant 'discrimination' by police or armed forces.
