Most common practice really is to ask a Halal Butcher to do the job, clean it up, and get the meat in small packages so one can distribute it per what ever plans.. This happens in North America as well as now in places like Pakistan, India etc.. And it is not done by every family even if they can afford it.. Instead of an animal it might be xxxxx amount of money is your sacrifice..

It is really all very symbolic..
