It's a real pain in the butt if you ask me. Think about it, the current Eid is a 4 day holiday, with business closed, but you can't know on EXACTLY which it starts until about 830pm the night before. Makes vacation planning sort of difficult.

It's sort of like celebrating Independence day on the 4th OR 5th of July, but you don't know which until 8pm on July 3rd.

PESHAWAR, Dec 30: Like Eidul Fitr, the Eidul Azha celebrations in the NWFP remained mired in controversy after local ulema failed to agree on a single day to observe the festive occasion. The disagreement led to observance of Eidul Azha on three different days - Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
