Kerry wasn't my first pick. But he won all the primaries and became the candidate. After that, for me, it was ABB, baby!

That happened in 2004. Everyone settled on Kerry way too quick. And he wasn't the strongest candidate by far.

That's because there were no real choices. If Obama was in position back in 2004, I would have gone for him in a heartbeat. Kerry was more ABB although he too has some good qualities. And I disagree with your evaluation that Obama is of little consequence. He has a perspective on life that I have not seen brought to the presidency in my lifetime. Clinton was close but this guy is the real deal. I think to discount him out of hand is a mistake.
