Powell's not stupid. He KNEW that we really had NO IDEA what was in the trucks in buildings he was claiming that he knew exactly the contents and purpose if in front of the UN. I knew it was crap as he was spewing it. It was just so obvious in the context of Condi Rice's "mushroom cloud" and the rest of the lying fearmongering. Remember the remotely piloted drones that Iraq was going to spray anthrax on us with? But, he did it anyway, to sell the fear, to sell the war. If you google back to where Powell first came to national attention, it was in doing damage control on the Me Lai massacre in Vietnam, so he'd already had practice at obscufication. I'd have voted for Powell in 2000. Now, I know who he really IS.
