On 8 player sit and goes, I nearly always finish in the money. And I have scored very well in the larger tourneys. Here are some reasons why: 1. So many of the players are dead money, in that they don't know how to play some of the games. And I don't just mean that they don't understand sophisticated strategy. I mean, some don't even know how some games are played. I was in a multi-table tourney on Saturday, and one player was killing the table in the first Hold Em round. He made even more money in Omaha High Low. Then, Razz hit. I was dealt A/2/7. He had a Jack showing. Everyone folded to my raise except for the guy with the Jack. On the next card, I got an 8 and he got another Jack. I figured, the hand is over, so I checked, just in case he might think I was afraid of crap in the basement. He bet. I laughed to myself and raised. He reraised. I capped it and he called. The next card hit a 5 for me and a 9 for him. I bet, expecting a quick fold. We went back to the raise-a-thon. This continued. I ended up with a seven high and he ended up with quad jacks. I got all the money, of course. He started bitching. "What kind of game is this where 8 high beats quad jacks?" "Must have been a computer error," said I. But the other players at the table told him Razz was lowball and he never believed me again. <G> I got all in with a hand I couldn't lose, and the only negative was that he had me covered. But he lost 2/3s of his chips and I was sitting pretty. Another Razz example. I have seen this many times and sometimes it happens to me. I'm dealt a King and have to bring it in. Then, the entire table folds to the worst card in Razz that I am showing. I can understand the first few players folding. If you are showing 7 and have a pair of queens in the basement, your hand sucks. You fold, as there are several other players with good low cards showing behind you. But the last guy, with the seven showing and a pair of queens hiding, should raise that King every time. The bring-in player has to fold. Another dead money time is when the game switches from Razz to 7 Stud high. Every tournament, at least one player at my table thinks he's still playing Razz, and he will raise with his low cards. There are also some misplays when it switches from 7 Stud to 7 High Low. The only site with a lot of Horse sit and gos and multi table tournaments is Poker Stars. Full Tilt has a lot on tap, but it is often tough to fill a table. There is also another game called Hose offered because so many players believe, mistakenly, that Razz is all luck and no skill. Every Razz tournament I hear somebody say that. The best policy is to shut your mouth and let the dummies believe that it's all luck, so they won't try to get better. But, of course, I can't keep my opinions to myself. At one table, I was second chip leader and a player who called himself The Mighty CC, was first. CC outfoxed another player for half his chips, and that guy swore and then said that Razz is total luck. I spoke up. "I've played 6 Razz tourneys that week and made 4 final tables. The Mighty CC made it to all four of those final tables, out of hundreds of players. Which makes me think he made even more final tables than just the ones where I lucked out and made it. I guess CC is one lucky dude, finishing in the top 5 to 10 percent nearly every time he plays this game that is total luck." The Mighty CC told me to STFU, but he ain't the boss of me. Except at a Razz table. <G>
