I am sorry mjfdl, I can not add to your or geode00's argument but I think your source is kinda shifty. If you look at the "Iraq War" bar it says 800 and showing 775. That is a shifty marketing gimmick.
I also think that your source is not giving the whole picture. Last year alone we had on average 100 soldier dead a month. Now if you exclude the marines and the reserves killed you might be able to come the 800 figure.

I do not believe your source, it is full holes.
