It's not a graph I'm setting store by other than an example of how commodities such as gold vary, to a greater or less extent, against other things, such as the Dow.

What they say the graph shows is true enough. But like so many things, it's a limited truth.

Not far off the truth. The same amount of gold buys 200 pounds of flour today as it did in Roman times.
