A few key items about this quarter's contest (which are also elaborated upon in the rules page linked below):ATI IMPACT: In short, we'll exclude ATI revenue from the AMD Total Revenue category , but all other categories will be unaffected. The AMD EPS category will remain unchanged . In other words, the EPS will simply be whatever AMD reports on their Consolidated Statement of Operations under Net income per common share (diluted), as usual . Which may or may not include dilution for the purchase, one-time charges, the impact of ATI's business, etc. Trying to force an apples-apples EPS category for the contest is too potentially messy, so we're just going with the bottom line... I noticed that the Analysts' total revenue numbers for the End-of-Quarter contest clearly include ATI revenue. So, we are adjusting their numbers by $652 million, ATI's revenue for the 3rd quarter. Once actual 4th quarter results are in we will deduct ATI's 4th quarter revenue from the analyst estimates, assuming a clear ATI revenue number is reported. The only reason this should matter to anyone is if you like to use the analyst total revenue numbers as a starting point. DEADLINE: The contest deadline is UNKNOWN at this time. Intel reports on the 16th. It is not yet known when AMD will report, but I suspect it will be that same week, as usual. Regardless, the contest deadline is defined as the morning of whichever company reports earlier (AMD or Intel) at U.S. stock market open. So in the event that AMD reports earlier than anticipated you would be advised not to procrastinate on your entry... :-) EARLY/MID-Q FORECASTS vs. END-OF-QUARTER: We have already run two "forecast" entry periods this quarter, but they are completely separate from this traditional End-of-Quarter contest. Those of you that entered one or both of the earlier forecast competitions, your data will automatically carry over . As such, we already have 18 entries. :-) However, if you don't like your numbers you can resubmit new numbers and reset your bonus (just remember to submit a COMPLETE entry as your old one will be discarded). Or you can submit a revision for one company, keeping your bonus for the other. See the top of the entry form for more details.ENTRY PHASES: We start the contest with the "early entry phase" where the bonuses are bigger but none of the entries or statistical data is revealed. On Tuesday the 9th we will begin the "regular entry phase". At that time entries and statistical entry data are revealed for all to see, but bonuses are much smaller for those entering in this latter phase.PRIZES: We give out 3 T-shirts and 3 quarterly SI & iHub subscriptions for each End-of-Quarter contest, in addition to the 2 shirts we give out for the Forecast competitions. There are currently 5 people eligible, and as it now stands they each would 'win' a T-shirt. See the 'Prizes' link below for more details on prizes and how to be eligible.
