Just for fun I figured out the percentages- feel free to check my math, as I am imperfect, and my husband is the math whiz in our family (followed closely by my son). I used total deaths, and divided by total troops:

1992
death rate
.00066
.066%

1994
death rate
.00061
.061%

1996
death rate
.00060
.060%

1998
death rate
.00053
.053%

2000
death rate
.00058
.058%

2001
death rate
.00054
.054%

2002
death rate
.00061
.061%

2003
death rate
.00081
.081%

2004
death rate
.0011
.01%
