Well, I can't say as I found that particularly convincing. There are no "surefire" methods on either the technical side or the fundamental side. A company's balance sheet might look good, but what if they've cooked the books? Most people I know that use technical analysis, use it in conjunction with fundamental analysis, not as a substitute. And most would agree that detecting a particular pattern is NOT a guarantee of the anticipated outcome, but an indication.

Don Coxe is one of the deepest fundamental thinkers I know, but also uses charts in his work. Same could be said for Richard Russell. I harbor no illusions that I will ever convince you of the merits of technical analysis, so I think we will just have to agree to disagree on this one...
