Illegal aliens bring Texas 18 billion bucks a year. Did you see that story? The one-sided version of the story the rightwing likes to tell is that illegals cost us billions in public services. That may be true but the figure I heard was a total of 1.2 billion in Texas, while they contribute 18 billion. Here in California, we would have a depression if the illegals weren't available, especially for picking crops, which would all rot in the fields without them. Historically, the US has at many times encouraged illegal immigration from Mexico. Much of our economy was build on that cheap labor, as it was on slavery in the previous century and before. So just remember, many of the anti-illegals bunch are only telling half the truth and exaggerating that part. Some of them are also racists, like Michelle Malkin for instance.
