There are many other mitigating factors as well including the vast improvement (a good thing) of military field medicine. Many who would have died as recently as the last Gulf War are surviving now.

There are, however, many severely debilitated people who will suffer the rest of their lives for this war for private profit. They will cost us tax money for the rest of their lives but the toll it takes on their families is immeasurable.

Are Bush and Cheney and Saudi family profits worth this suffering?

Apparently the likes of Mjfdl think they are.

Pathetic.

On a slightly different note, the longer US troops spend in Iraq, the smarter the 'enemy' becomes. They've already vastly improved the IEDs and, if I remember correctly, they've gone from taking out unarmored Humvees to taking out much more heavily armored Strykers.

This is not a good thing. It's as if we're paying tax money to run some kind of a mega training camp.

If you really want an example of how misleading "statistical analysis" can be, the data on the Florida 2000 election and Pat Buchanan's votes wrt to West Palm Beach is classic. I might see if I can find the numbers, but I think I ditched the computer those were on.
