>I have been a global warming doubter until recently.<

I still do doubt it, but hey, if everyone else believes it, and they say uranium is the answer, then hey, I go with the flow.

environmentalists??
being in the NorthWest, currently in Idaho, for the past 35 years the problems associated with nuclear power cannot be totally attributed to environmental concerns of that day. The default by WPPSS (Washington Public Power Supply System) on it's bonds, the largest default in history till that time, is what killed the nuclear industry.
today's NorthWest environment concerns itself with salmon recovery issues. we may lightly dismiss this "other" problem of power generation but the damn dams are the primary culprit in prevention of salmon recoveries.
unfortunately the US resembles (as in,is) a large corporate state that is not too willing to rededicate it's resources else ware unless it is ultimately rewarded handsomely, and I think Wall Street has been antagonistic toward nuclear power generation the past few decades.
in all likelihood, it will be environmental concerns of global warming or "saving the world" that will generate a new enthusiasm for nuclear power & maybe make us rich!
my take this day, Loach
