The Shah was not anti-Israel, he was a secular materialist. The anti-Israel forces are the Islamic extremists. Beware who your friends are in that respect.

I should also remind you that most Jews are liberals, it's just the ruling party in Israel that's been hawkish for awhile, as well as hawkish neocon Zionists who somehow got ahold of Bush's foreign policy (or lack thereof).

Actually, I don't believe Israel is a major problem for us now. They got their fingers burnt in Lebanon and are now likely to be more rational in terms of making concessions in exchange for peace. But first we need a new president to help broker than pece agreement. Bush is inept at diplomacy of any kind.
