Thanks for the references. I fully agree that not only chess programs but all the software that we now have is far from intelligent. But eventually we will be able to figure out in great precision the structure of the human brain and how it changes as it gains experience and knowledge. Once we figure that, we can duplicate it with superior hardware and we will have our superior intelligence. I agree that we may not be able to predict precisely what such intelligence will do, but we can simulate the heck out of it and have a pretty good idea of its general behavior. A very rudimentary start towards this is neural networks -- en.wikipedia.org
