We arranged for our daughter to get a credit card before she went to Mexico last June. I wanted her to have a card in case they got stranded somewhere and needed to get a hotel room.

She's been quite responsible with it, and I figure it's helping her build a credit history.

Discover sent one to my then 8 year old son. I called them up and told them if they ever sent him one again, I'd do everything in my power to get them brought up on child endangerment, enticement, and aiding and abetting a minor. They said all I had to do was cut up the card, what was the big problem. I explained to them they were the big problem and somehow, they managed to get an 8 year olds social security number which brought up another legal question. How'd they get it in the first place. They never sent anything else to my house again.
