My dad used to be into the GM diesels, for better or worse, back in the day. They had a LOT of teething pains and he got to know 'em all firsthand as he did all his own wrenching where the GM dealer wouldn't touch the stuff including injection pumps etc. One of the TSBs for GM diesels specified adding ATF to the fuel to keep the injection pumps from seizing.

The new diesels have a lot of technology though, oxygen sensors and exhaust filtration and so forth type of emission controls, way tighter tolerances so I think just dumping ATF to the fuel might not be recommended. There's a bio-diesel additive available in these parts that is recommended to add an ounce with each tank which is about $1 per tank, not too bad.
