Previously drilled holes, at Russell, assaying up to 3.5 per cent uranium, intersected the basal Athabasca group unconformity at about 320 to 350 metres below surface, considerably shallower than the McArthur River (500 to 550 metres) and Cigar Lake (410 to 450 metres) deposits. Like major deposits in the region, this mineralization is in proximity to the unconformity and within a zone of strong structural deformation and hydrothermal alteration.
