Look, Apple was down because the entire market took a hit. Not because of the same old tired story of options. Everyone knows that Apple will have a good Macworld and great earnings. The big question now is, is it already priced in the stock.

Allen,

A big show of integrity on Jobs' part, and Apple's too, would be to reprice all the shares people bought before the big 50% haircut in 2000. Do I think that's going to happen? Never. Should insiders be privy to options pricing to suit their wallets and profitability? NOPE! They should take their lumps like all us suckers.

No no.

Dock him 5 year's salary.

That way he would have to skip lunch. :-)

Apart from the "may-ness" of the article, it is true that at the time Jobs returned the options in exchange for the stock grants they (said options) were worthless. So, IMHO, he was "lucky" to have done what he did when he did. Nevertheless, we don't know what the real motivation for returning the options was. It could have been he knew they were not kosher and decided to do the "right" thing. It's a shame that all of this is happening when AAPL is riding one of its greatest moments ever. Absent this mess, the stock price would almost certainly be in the 90s.
