New Jersey just passed a law which bans smoking in the casinos (effective April 15). An article in the local paper said that 80% of all gamblers are non-smokers, which I think is bullshit. Unless Connecticut and Philly follows suit, they may have to repeal the law by years end or go bust. Non smokers will go to a smoking casino and complain, but smokers won't go to a non smoking casino at all. The revenue the state loses just from cigarette sales, which currently sell for over $8 a pack (most of which is tax), will have to be replaced with sales tax, property tax, gasoline tax, and higher tolls on their roads. The casinos, which are bound to take a revenue hit, pay millions a day in gambling taxes. I would LOVE to quit smoking but, if I do, I hope I don't turn into an overweight asshole like some people do. LOL
