Whether the Lexus model migrates down to the rest of Toyota cars or Toyota continues to give freedom of choice to buyers is a very key question, especially for XM.

It isn't a question. This ship has sailed and Toyota is onboard with XM. More slowly than expected, but there is nothing to indicate that Toyota is considering an arrangement with Sirius, other than the backdoor (via Penske) deal currently in use.

And why would they, when Nissan and Honda are offering features via XM that Sirius can't or won't offer?

Consumers buying cars don't give a damn which satellite radio it has in it. At least not yet.
