Dubai: It has become a common sight these days to see children huddled around heaters in their rooms to keep warm.

While the sudden drop of temperature has affected residents, it has created a boom for shops selling heaters.

Though for different reasons, customers and retailers have taken a sudden interest in room heaters.

Vikas P.V,. a salesman at a electronics shop in the Central Souq in Sharjah, said heaters are in high demand.

“They are currently out of stock. Every day we have more than half a dozen customers coming and asking forheaters,” he said.

The number of customers has soared since last year due to the cold weather.

Shopkeepers saw a rise in demand for heaters, particularly during this past week, and said that they have received more customers this year than in the past.
