While you might be dumb enough to just stand there, most thinking people won't. I wouldn't need the box cutters or the bolt cutters to take the seatbelt extender from you.

But if you got lucky enough to hit me with it, you'd only make me mad.

Longnshort, the problem with seat belt extenders is that you can't hold it to someone's throat as easily as you can a boxcutter.

Face-to-face fights might be interesting, but you know terrorists will never fight fair.
