Not many Democrats seem to realize it yet...you are going to be very disappointed I'm afraid.

But did the American people go in for that? Absolutely not. Instead, they voted for the Democrats

Just keep in mind that the country is so evenly divided right now that one state will swing the 2008 election. If the Dems win a state like CO, NM, AZ, NV, MO, OH, etc. it should be enough for them to win the 2008 Presidential election, even if they lost NH (which seems unlikely given the current voting trends in NH).
