Charter DVR update.

Tech Guy No. 1 comes to the house yesterday. His verdict is the box is bad and he'll get another.

Tech Guy No. 2 comes over, says, no, no no. Turns out the cable outlet the DVR was plugged into runs through a signal amplifier. Tech Guy No. 2 says that's a no-no, as the amp does not allow two way communication.

As we talked through the issue, I told him, "well we have a line in the utility closet that you guys put in when we had Charter Internet (which, incidentally, we dropped because the service kept dropping)." He says, "well shave me down and call me a Mole Rat, I'll get that running in a jiffy."

And he did.

No way would I switch over and have Charter handle my phone service. No way.

The question I now have is, why did the guy who initially installed the box not realize this and test the outlet to make sure it functioned properly for the service he was installing?
