Both of my kids are quite slim (and they have been known to eat the products of a certain Scottish themed restaurant occasionally).

My oldest was worried she'd get the infamous "freshman 15" which is a 15 lb weight gain the first year of college. It's supposedly due to the kids eating irregularly and eating junk. She actually found herself eating more salads and other healthy foods, and has lost weight.

Have you ever noticed that a lot of the girls who are carrying an extra 10-20 lbs around the middle insist on wearing tight shirts that only emphasize the extra weight? What is with that?

One of the things that made Alfred Hitchcock films so popular was his use of a McGuffin. That is the person that the audience focuses on through the whole movie, only to find out at the end that the person had nothing to do with the plot. Smoking, drinking, obesity, illiteracy, the hole in the ozone, the spotted owl - ALL McGUFFINS to keep our focus off the REAL problems. Our allies in Afghanistan are warlords that finance their armies by producing drugs, and our government turns a blind eye when they import their heroin to the US because we need them to help us fight Al Quaida. Hell, they're killing more people on the American streets than the are with their war on terror! Everything is going according to plan, though, because our people are so wrapped up in the war on nicotine, trans fats, and the deadly .08 on the breath-a-lizer that no one even notices.
