Except for Carl Levin's indicating he will possibly support surge, with Republican's lining up behing Hagel "no surge"!(and fleeing McCain) and Democrats Reid and Pelosi lining up behind Biden "no surge" stance we MAY have a first rate confrontation with Bush and Congress. For those saying, well he hasn't said anything yet, the relentless leak is he will be calling for a surge and 7,500 troops are said to be already be in Kuwait. The key thing is the certainly is he will be coming out with a "Victory in Iraq Plan". Well that almost makes a certainty a troop surge will be part of his BS, the surge bwing from 10k to 40k. His speech is targetted for 1/10. i want very much that he calls for the surge and congress turns against him because i want public to see how Bush will NOT back down and start with his critics are anti-american BS!!!! And like he IS the President and he has the authority to do what he believes to be the best for the country. We can NOT have this MUST HAVE confrontation unless the Hagels and Bidens et al follow through with action and NOT just useless words. i will say it again, i feel Bush will NOT change and only drastic action can stop this dangerous man. The gradual wear-Bush-down approach would be an utter failure,imo.Max P.S. For those saying Murtha fencing in funds would harm troops is utter rubbish, and is an argument i would only expect from neocon fanatics. Murtha wants funds fenced so this SURGE can not be financed, he did not say halt funds, he said FENCE funds. As to have this surge it can be done ONLY through extending duty of already exhausted troops and recalling AGAIN reserves. As Murtha said this "surge" will just be more hellish stress on the overstretched troops. Bush does NOT care about troops, they are his slaves and he is ready to work them to the breaking point to feed his mania. To those charging Murtha's wanting to block this surge by not giving funds to finance it is "anti-soldier": well that is utter smear, total rubbish.Max
