I looked into this supplement combination a few years back, and my recollection is that a trial failed to show a significant effect - not too surprising given it looked undersized.

There were some interesting results in dogs, and I've actually seen these supplements in some dog foods. One could certainly buy these supplements much cheaper individually (from some place like Swanson) than one could in their pill. In neither case can you really be assured you are getting what they claim you are getting.

The whole lipoic acid isomer issue is murky. Lots of claims by folks that have some commercial interest and little hard science.
