I went to capwiz.com and got the email addresses of my county officials.

I just sent this to every one of the board of commissioners in my county:

Hello;

My name is X X.

I have watched, over the years, as XC County has fought over funding of jail space, law enforcement etc.

These problems have not gone away and seem to have gotten worse.

I have a simple solution.

Some history:

The State of SX, years ago, passed a law called the “Controlled Substance Act.” Good or bad, the State didn’t fund the law when they passed it. They never have.

The majority of the funding for enforcement of the law was left up to the counties. They made a law that we are now trying to pay the bill for.

We have reached the limits of our abilities to pay for their law.

My suggestion:

Declare a moratorium on enforcement of the Controlled Substance Act until it has been funded.

Next ask the public for the funding. Put it on a special ballot. Determine what property tax amounts are required to pay for that new jail etc. and ask the taxpayers for it.

If they pass it, you get the funding you have been looking for.
If not, it wasn’t your doing. Leave the moratorium in place.

Either way the board of commissioners will be off the hook.

Think about it.

Thanks

Hey, I figured these people were poll driven .. 78% ..

I don't think there is anything else that has such common public support.

What's the problem??

I understand, lots of important things going on. It just seems this one should be a no brainer and on the list somewhere.
