Rasmussen is a GOP pollster. He shows 42% strongly disapprove of Bush and 18% strongly approve.

The people in the middle are highly unlikely to actually approve of Bush. Maybe he's throwing Bush the "fair" numbers which basically mean conservatives who are very disappointed with Bush but would never come out and say they disapprove of him totally.

Bush's real approval numbers are way down around 30%, perhaps even lower, and likely to go lower still once the congressional investigations start exposing what's really been going on.

I know a woman in Texas who used to worship Bush. She even looks and sounds like Laura Bush. She told me she has "some real problems" with Bush now, but would still answer a poll like Rasmussen's in the affirmative. So even Bush's base are very uneasy about him these days. Or basically his base has been cut in half.
