Me start a fund? No chance. From me, you get what you pay for.

Cheers, Tuck

No fund from me. I'm just a jack anyway; the others are all aces. You all can have as of me you can financially withstand. Which brings this to mind...

Beware some of my picks. The one year time limit, the need to stretch for a few huge gainers, the difficulty of coming up with at least eight, and the sum having to appreciate at least +40% to be in the running makes for one weird and dangerous basket. How much adeza, genelabs and renovis do I own in real life? Small, small %.

I'd like to echo scaram'. The size of some pledges, the no-dog-in-the-fight pledges, and the blank entries from our best BT observers show high character here on SI. Nice to be associated with the community.

I swear, if SI only had a marketing exec this contest and its format and possible progeny could corral many more subscribers.

Starting a fund? Not me. A huge advantage I have as an individual investor is that I don't have to have quarterly or even annual results. I can buy wisely then hold for the long term. Over 5-10 years, my results trounce the indices even with the occasional turkey in my portfolio.

I can't buy biotech easily any more or opine about it (but I can certainly answer questions or interpret results) to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest or acting on inside info, because I have a new job with a large company that does a lot of biotech evaluations. Since I can't know what everyone in the company is doing, the best way to stay out of trouble is not to do biotech investing personally. I'm actually divesting my biotech holdings opportunistically, and am working to become a real expert in another area, alternative energy, which doesn't overlap with the day job.

HNY,

RE42
