You know like I do that the EC blocking of US beef is mainly protective action demanded by the French and supported by a few other nations in the best interests of their politicians under pressure from the local lobbies.

As for salmon, it only recently, say 2-3 years ago or so, got back to being real cheap because of the Norwegian and recently Japanese farming (Norway put them in that business).
True cod is a lot more expensive these days.

You may also know that the Alaska King Crab migrated to Norway 10-15 years ago. GW? I doubt it. But what's more, those clever Norwegians now sustain the only and quite large King Crab farms in the world. Actually a very exclusive London restaurant - the chef is French - now claim to serve the best King Crab dishes in the world. And all of that is based on their Norwegian imports.

For New Year my wife and I enjoyed 125 grams of great "Russian" caviar. From France. They have the only sturgeon farms in the world as far as I know and have been harvesting great caviar out of there for a couple of years now. Just as expensive as the Russian (not on sale this year) or Iran versions. Ridiculously expensive and my wife now decided no more, our 5 years old New Years tradition has become too much and we may downgrade to Lobster or whatever from next year. Once a year only, with a bottle of Belle Epoque or Dom Perignon that is.
