Reading thru ASCO abstracts, you'll see more and more studies where tumor samples are taken specifically for gene/whatever profiling..I was shocked to find out it wasn't done as a routine..they need patient consent for this(under the 'ownership' of a clinical trial)..my sis's colon tumor was not held for EGFR/VEGF even..they didn't bother to ask and she didn't know to request it..
